Your City Tour Cusco begins with hotel pickup at approximately 12:00 PM. From there, we head to Cusco’s historic center to explore some of the city’s most important cultural and archaeological landmarks.
The first stop is the Cusco Cathedral, located on the Plaza de Armas. This visit is optional for travelers who wish to explore one of the most important examples of colonial architecture in Peru. The cathedral houses an important collection of religious artwork and reflects the city’s colonial heritage.
After the visit to the Plaza de Armas, we continue to Qoricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun. Once the most important religious center of the Inca Empire, Qoricancha showcases the remarkable stonework of the Incas and the architectural fusion that emerged following the Spanish conquest. Today, its foundations remain preserved beneath the Convent of Santo Domingo.
Leaving the city center behind, we travel by vehicle to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most important archaeological sites near Cusco. Known for its enormous stone walls and strategic location overlooking the city, Sacsayhuaman offers valuable insight into Inca engineering and urban planning. Your guide will explain the history and significance of the site, followed by time to explore and take photographs.
The tour then continues to Qenqo, a ceremonial center believed to have played an important role in Inca religious practices. Here, you can observe carved rock formations, underground chambers, and ceremonial structures associated with ancient rituals.
A short drive brings us to Puca Pucara, commonly known as the “Red Fortress.” This small archaeological site is thought to have served as a military checkpoint and resting place for travelers approaching Cusco.
Our final archaeological visit is Tambomachay, a site associated with water worship and ceremonial activities. The complex is famous for its aqueducts, canals, and fountains, which continue to function centuries after their construction.
