Detailed Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Challacancha – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Camp
We will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 am and travel by private transport for approximately 2 hours to Mollepata, where you will enjoy breakfast before continuing for about 1 more hour to Challacancha, the starting point of the trek.
From here, you will begin a gradual hike toward Soraypampa, following a scenic trail through the valley. This section is relatively moderate and ideal for acclimatization, as you walk alongside a small Inca canal and take in the surrounding mountain views.
Upon arrival at camp, located in front of the impressive Salkantay and Humantay mountains, you will enjoy a freshly prepared lunch. After some time to rest, the afternoon hike begins toward Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,780 ft).
The ascent takes around 2 hours uphill, and although it is short, the altitude makes it more demanding. At the top, you will have time to enjoy the views of the glacial lake, known for its striking turquoise color, surrounded by steep peaks.
After visiting the lake, you will descend back to camp for dinner. In the evening, you can relax in a quiet mountain setting, and your guide may share insights about Andean traditions and the night sky.

Pre-Trek Briefing
All briefings are held at your hotel in Cusco around 5:00 PM, one or two days before your trek. The session lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
