Our Lares Trek 3 Days 2 Nights is a shorter alternative to the Inca Trail in a remote area that offers our clients the delight of an unexplored path, as a true cultural exchange with the local people and in addition to thermo medicinal baths.

This hike will be a once in a lifetime experience, you will visit the town of Lares, which is considered one of the last ancient Inca communities in the middle of the Peruvian Andes; Enjoy the wild and natural life seeing llamas, alpacas, Vicuñas and many other animals considered South American camelids. It is also possible to appreciate one of the largest birds in the world, the Andean Condor.
You will have thorough briefing with your guide 1 or 2 days before your Lares trek 3 Days 2 Nights. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and you can take this opportunity to ask questions and make any final preparations.
Very early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel at 5:30 am, in our private vehicle and we will travel through the Sacred Valley to the town of Calca. Where we can enjoy breakfast at the local market, also use the bathrooms and visit the farmers market. Then we will continue driving towards the Amparaes pass at over (4,580 m / 15,026 ft) enjoying the impressive landscape of spectacular view of the snowy mountain range, rural communities with many alpacas and llamas, before descending to the town of Lares and visiting natural places such as the hot springs.
Additionally, here we will meet our muleteers (riders) and begin our Walk through the Lares Valley. After relaxing in the natural hot springs, we begin an uphill hike for 1.5 hours to reach the lunch spot, known as Chanca Chaca. After lunch, we continue ascending gently watching llamas and alpacas towards the camp, called wacawasi (3,800m/12,377ft).
As we walk, we will see rural communities on the slopes. Finally we arrived at the first camp where we interacted with the locals. Likewise, we will enjoy our afternoon tea, followed by dinner.
We begin the walk after our breakfast. We start with a 3-hour climb to reach the top of Ipsayccasa Pass (4,500 m), the highest point of the hike. There we can appreciate impressive views of the surrounding mountains. Then, we descend gently for about 1 hour until we reach our lunch location near the stunning Ipsaycocha lake. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe Andean geese, puna ibis and other wetland birds around the lake. Then we will continue downhill to the Community of Patacancha.
Our transportation will be waiting to take us down the valley to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo where we will rest and have dinner. At night we will take a train to Aguas Calientes. This is a spectacular trip that begins in the Quechua highlands and slowly descends into lush tropical vegetation as we approach Aguas Calientes.
Total train travel time is approximately 1 and a half hours. We will spend the night in a hostel in Aguas Calientes. We will go to bed early to prepare for your visit to Machu Picchu the next morning.
On our last day, you will get up very early to visit one of the 7 wonders of the World – ¨Machu Picchu¨. At 5:30 am. We will go directly to the line to wait for the first buses to Machu Picchu.
We will arrive at the gate when the sky lights up and ascend to the top of Machu Picchu, while taking in the impressive views of the city. On a clear morning, the sunrise over Machu Picchu is magnificent; This moment is unforgettable.
Our tour guide will take you on a 2-3 hour guided tour, where we will visit the Sun Temple, Royal palace, Main Temple, Three Windows Temple and Sun Dial. It will be an unforgettable experience.
If you have booked Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, you will need to coordinate with your guide for Machu Picchu visiting depending on your scheduled time to the mountain, for people not hiking any of the mountains there are some other optional activities on your own ( not included in the price).
Train back to Cusco: In the afternoon you will return to the train station in Aguas Calientes for the trip back to Ollantaytambo. Upon your arrival to train station you will be transferred by car to your hotel in Cusco.
